Information

Course outline:

  • Meeting the government's requirement to promote "British Values" through an integrated approach combining whole-school spiritual, moral, social and cultural activities and the taught curriculum.
  • Resources to help teachers explore values appropriately and fairly, and to develop strategies for responding to controversial events.
  • The Global Learning Programme as a vehicle for incorporating British Values - including subject-based teaching ideas and resources (a similar approach to Nottingham City's GARP).
  • UNICEF's Rights Respecting School programme - the UN Convention on Rights of the Child (UNCRC) is embedded in schools' ethos and culture; this Convention is based on many of the same values as those listed in the Department for Education's definition of British Values.
