What is The Sheriff’s Challenge?

The Sheriff’s Challenge is a series of activities for primary school-age children encouraging them to walk, run, swim and cycle.  Each academic year different challenges are set which will encompass ‘joint goals’ for schools to cumulatively reach; but will also include individual pupil targets.

The ‘Running’ Challenge (AKA Active Mile / The Daily Mile) is FREE for Nottingham City schools to take part.  Benefits include promoting better health and wellbeing, children being outdoors and active, improved concentration, attainment, behavior and attendance.

The ‘Running’ Challenge for 2019/2020

Every year, more than 40,000 people run the 26.2 mile London Marathon.

Schools have been set the challenge to cumulatively walk or run 40,000 miles this academic year!

Pupils are set the individual challenge to walk or run 26.2 miles …& logging activity on the MyChallenge App will work this all out for you!

“The children absolutely love doing the miles they are always asking to get out and run.  The benefits we have seen in the children as well have been amazing.”  Haydn Primary School.

“My class loved the Sheriff’s Challenge so much, when I asked what they wanted to do for Golden Time they wanted to do laps of the MUGA!  We were quite late starting this year but next year we’ll be on that leader board!”  Rosslyn Park Primary School.

“The Sherriff’s Challenge provided a focus for the children to really think about how active they were every day. It supported classroom discussion around leading an active life and was able to illustrate how easy it could be to be more active in a friendly and accessible way. It encouraged the children to help and motivate one another to be more active.”  Transform Trust.
