Dear Head Teacher / Trustee
As I am sure you are aware, the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) recently had a data collection exercise designed to provide intelligence on fire safety in schools and to provide reassurance that necessary fire precautions are in place for all schools. As part of the data collection all Responsible Bodies were asked to return the survey. We have completed our response to the ESFA to this data collection exercise.
I am sure that you have responded to the ESFA from the perspective of your Academy / Trust. However, in relation to our role as champions for children and families and with the statutory duty to safeguard all children across the city I would appreciate you sharing any concerns that you have in relation to fire safety in your buildings.
Whilst it is clear that overall legal responsibility for fire safety sits with the Trust or Governing Body of academies in the City, it will help the council and local politicians be assured there were no significant outstanding matters or concerns raised by your school building fire risk assessments, or if there are concerns provide confidence that they are being dealt with.
Could you therefore e-mail David Thompson via firstname.lastname@example.org any risk assessments that identify significant fire safety issues, or a 'nil' return by 26th July.
